In a world ruled by The Six, there is no room for doubt. Even Catherine, a girl who's entire existence has been dedicated to expaneding the Cleansed Lands, begins to see tears at the seams of her existence when a mysterious Outsider crashes to the earth. This outsider has powers that rival the gods, and it may destroy them as well.
 
Paul is a faithful servant of the Six, destined to preach the word of these godly beings from the mountain of Skypoint to the dreaded Outlands. But as he is inducted into the religious order, he begins to realize that the Six might not be as infallible as he has been told.
 
Catherine leaves her village of builders to find the truth for herself, taking the Outsider with her as both a hostage and a guide. What they find leads them to seek the council of the Outsider. Their decision could break apart everything they have built in the Cleansed Land.
